Local flair

Our motto: «If you have enjoyed your stay, please tell all of your friends! If not, please tell us!»

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "If you are in Miglieglia, this is the place to stay! Casa Santo Stefano is what we think of as classic Ticino in Switzerland. The rooms are simple. We got a room with French doors leading out onto a balcony overlooking the beautiful village. We had to ask for shampoo, but that was no problem. The owners, Angeli and Christian, were very friendly and helpful. I have a dietary problem and Christian went out of his way to arrange my dinner at the local restaurant. He came to the dining room both mornings we were there. He provided fantastic gluten free bread for breakfast. My husband and I travelled with two other couples with InnTravel. We were so pleased that InnTravel has Casa Santo Stefano on their itinerary. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it." Faraway, august 2023

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "The week with you has done me very well and you have really created an oasis
of relaxation with a lot of flair. Also the staff is very cordial." Monica, may 2023

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "For us THE place in Ticino to switch off and feel good. We will definitely come back! If you are looking for the original and honest Ticino, this is the place for you. With the great individual tips of the warm hosts, you can start from the delicious breakfast table directly to the beautiful walks in the chestnut forests, in the mountains or on the lake." Michael, June 2022

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "Perfect for a few days at the foot of Monte Lema. Vegetarian breakfast. simple but good. Homemade jams. Quiet and comfortable room. Caring hotel owners." Claire, March 2022

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "The historic buildings of Casa Santo Stefano in the center of Miglielia have been superbly renovated with great attention to detail. The rooms are pleasantly simple and tastefully furnished. Fortunately there is no TV! Everything is very clean and well-kept, the breakfast is very tasty, the service is cordial and competent and the surrounding area invites you to great hikes. Conclusion: the Casa Santo Stefano is always worth a trip!" Lars, November 2020

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "We spent one night at the Casa Santo Stefano this summer during a bike tour in Ticino. The place is really nice, very clean and totally relaxing, especially as it is located in the middle of a pedestrian area. The staff is super nice and helpful. After a restful night, you will enjoy the very rich and varied breakfast of the place. Definitively count on me coming back!" Louis Dumont, september 2020

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "A very cozy get away if you want to escape city life for some time and just relax and enjoy nature. Super lovely owners, you can tell they put a lot of detail, heart and effort into creating this place which makes it very homey, delicious breakfast (everything organic, a big variety of jams, cheese, honey, yummy bread and Zopf, one time there were even rolls), cozy rooms, everything was super clean, lots of hiking routes closeby." Ellen, august 2020

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "100 reasons to come back : perfect place to unwind, relax, go hiking, meditate and practice yoga. Along with the lovingly prepared delicious vegetarian meals, the excellent LomiLomi massages and generous hosts this place is a gem, authentic and yet in a contemporary and very clean standard. One week was not long enough...." C. Piraud, august 2020

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "What an excellent hotel, beautifull quiet location with hosts that could not do enough for us. Small functional rooms with a lovely simple buffet breakfast and views to die for.Our hosts even printed of the local Italian restaurants menu in english and booked our table every night for evening meals. This is not a high end 5* hotel but a very well run hotel covering 3 linked buildings decorated in a rustic style that really fits in well with the surrounding village. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to return." Ken, october 2019

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "You Must Experience Casa Santo Stefano! The location is perfect for accessing miles and miles of remote hiking trails. The location is in a beautiful neighborhood close to an amazing Italian Restaurant with a pizzeria in the front and a romantic dining room with great service in the rear. Your host in Casa Santo Stefano is extremely helpful without being to over bearing. The views from our room were A+. If you are looking to experience Switzerland from a small town view point, this is the place!" Mark, september 2019

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "It was an absolute joy to lead my first yoga retreat in Tessin with this beautiful and diverse group of women. I thank each one for their trust, commitment, courage, curiosity as well as their support for one another. It was a memorable experience, I learned so much through their insights, observations and questions about yoga and self-care shared over leisurely brunches and evening meals with organic home-cooked food, open-lit fireplaces and on picturesque hiking trails.Thank you all for holding the space with me and to Angeli and Christian for your warm hospitality." Karen Kurzmeyer, april 2019

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "I attended a wonderful yoga retreat at Caso Santo Stefano. It was truly a special week for many reasons. The great yoga sessions including the evening meditation,  the accommodation and delicious meals provided by the super cooks, and the organization and flexibility of Angeli & Christian. I especially appreciate all of their hiking/restaurant/lake tips. It made getting around so much easier (not to mention the super jams and cakes/tarts!!). The location is just ideal close to the high ridge trail and also the forests and waterfalls. There is so much to explore in the area, I’ll definitely be going back!" K. F., july 2018

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌  "Peaceful sanctuary in traditional Ticinese surroundings. This is a great place for a quiet time in the hills of Malcantone, to hike, to enjoy the local food and scenery. Rooms are basic in a traditional way - lots of stone and wood, embodying the Ticino atmosphere, but with modern bathroom and shower. The hotel is generally quiet - yoga courses take place here, you can book a massage. Yes, the church bells are very close to many rooms, but don't ring during the night (assuming your night ends at 7:30). Breakfast includes many homemade touches - the jam, the bread - and very nice cheeses. The hosts are friendly and helpful but not pushy. They have great information on hiking, with summaries they've put together themselves including hiking times starting at the hotel and even some paths that don't have the standard yellow hiking signs. The town of Miglieglia is small, traditional and quiet, and with the lift to Monte Lema also a starting point for the panorama hike to Monte Tamara. There are two restaurants in town for dinner - during our stay in October, fresh porcini mushrooms and game specialties were the highlight. Pizzeria Negresco also had a delicious chestnut ice cream, optionally with noccino grappa. We'll be back!" B. L., october 2017

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "Very rustic place, very nice staff. Mostly bio products!" Hugo C.; may 2018

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌  "Sympathetic small village with great hiking trails nearby. Stay in a softly renovated stone building in the middle of the old town of a small village. The friendly hosts meet you with a warm welcome and make your stay as pleasant as possible. Yoga retreats, massages and cooking weekends are offered as well." S.S.; april 2018

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌  "Impeccably clean, friendly, totally natural. The room with en suite was the best in the place. A bit pricey but this is in the mountains in Switzerland.... This is a husband & wife team who have run this delightful hotel (several buildings connected together) for 20 years. He is happy to guide you walking in the mountains wherever you want to go. She prepares the breakfast consisting of home-made muesli, home-made jam, home-made bread which he has made: you can't help but feeling at home." Michael C., october 2016

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "Good place for a weekend of wandering. The hotel consists of adjoining old houses in the village. It has been going for 20 years but looks like it was just renovated. The area is great for hiking and mountain biking (and parasailing if you are inclined). The town has a decent restaurant, and if you have a car Christian will set you up with reservations at the best places in the area. This is a great place to spend a couple of active days.” Scott B., Philapdelhia, september 2016

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ "Everything I was going to say has already been said in the previous review. This is a gem of a place set in a typical Ticino village. The buildings are traditional and the rooms have been left plain to keep to the original style but are comfortable and immaculate. There was a little lounge area on our floor with fantastic view across the valley - a perfect place to sit and read before retiring. I loved the communal kitchen area for breakfast (which was full of homemade produce) and the fact you could help yourself to a drink any time (just note on the list provided what you have taken). The village has one restaurant serving pizza, pasta and great fish dishes and the service was excellent. The village has the cable car to Monte Lema providing access to a huge hiking area. We did the famous Monte Lema to Monte Tamaro trail on a very hot sunny day. Views were amazing - this is a long hike with some climbs but well worth it. A stay of 2 nights was not long enough - can't wait to come back again!” J. & F., Zurich, july 2016

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ “Thank you for a lovely stay and hospitality. We loved the kitchen.” Jack Russel, North Carolina, june 2016

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ “Hosts, location and atmosphere overall.” Svetozar, mai  2016

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌ “Very friendly, family minded landlords. Available and helpful. Quiet place up the mountain with a good restaurant close to the hotel. Nice walks around with beautiful sightseeing. Bio and respectful of nature.” Fabian Longo, Luxemburg, march 2015
