Vision & Philosophy

Homemade Gugelhopf made from regional products

Touched by nature. Inspired by simplicity

Welcome to Malcantone.

Three historic Ticino houses in Miglieglia, carefully preserved and gradually renovated.

Casa Santo Stefano combines the charm of a traditional inn with the tranquility of a retreat.
Our Casa offers a relaxing stay and personalized hospitality. Architecture, nature, and life within the house blend seamlessly together. We see simplicity as a virtue—in our spaces, in our details, and in our interactions.

Our mission

As your hosts, we personally guide you through your stay. Our daily interactions are characterized by presence, attentiveness, and reliability. The focus is on restful sleep and a refined breakfast experience. Spaces where you arrive and quickly feel at home. We run the Casa with clarity and dedication. So that individual days become a stay that leaves a lasting impression. A place for guests who travel mindfully and find their own rhythm.

Unique ambience

Three historic houses in the heart of Miglieglia, each with its own unique character. Bright loggias seamlessly connect the interior with the surroundings. Guests gather under the pergola to dine together or enjoy a glass of wine. Stone, wood, and handmade ceramics define the spaces. Floral accents add a personal touch.

Individual guest experiences

Whether you’re a solo traveler or part of a retreat, every stay is tailored to your individual needs.
Some come to hike, read, or simply take a few days off. Others spend their time practicing yoga, qi gong, fasting, or taking creative classes. Casa provides the setting. How you spend your days is entirely up to you.

Sustainability and responsibility

For us, responsibility begins in our daily lives. Decisions have consequences—for people, for the community, and for the future. That is why we strive to run the Casa in harmony with its surroundings, our region, and the consequences of our actions.

Respectful treatment of nature, resources, and our region is part of our everyday life. We source many of our products from producers in Ticino and the surrounding area. Our breakfast is vegetarian, regional, and seasonal, and is prepared mainly from organic ingredients. In the house, we use biodegradable cleaning products, pay attention to durable materials, and avoid plastic wherever possible.

For us, responsibility also means thinking long-term. This includes carefully maintaining our historic buildings, providing reliable jobs, working fairly with our partners, and a management approach focused on stability rather than short-term optimization.

We continuously invest in energy-efficient solutions and in the responsible use of water and energy. With the Ticino Ticket, our guests can use public transportation throughout the canton.

We are constantly refining our measures. Independent certification by ibex fairstay helps us highlight our progress and identify new steps for improvement.

Guest feedback

We take our guests' feedback seriously. It helps us stay attentive and continue to run the hotel.

Future and further development

We are carefully developing Casa further. Existing features are being preserved, and new ones are being created where it makes sense and fits in with Casa. The focus remains on time, space, and quality. For days that have a lasting effect on everyday life.

Openness and respect

Respect is at the heart of our establishment—both in our interactions with guests and within our team. We welcome people from all backgrounds and at every stage of life. Every stay can be tailored to feel just right. Internally, our relationships are guided by reliability, mutual respect, and clear accountability.
